Lea County cumulative total added 25 positive tests for COVID-19 on Saturday, the single biggest jump in cases for the county since the state began tracking numbers.
The county now has a cumulative total of 172 residents who have tested positive for COVID-19.
Of those 172 cases, the state says 37 have been designated as totally recovered. In Lea County as of Saturday, there has been tests 5,401 tests administered.
Of those positive tests, 111 were for the 88240 or Hobbs zip code, 27 were for the 88260 or Lovington zip code, 23 cases were for the 88242 or north Hobbs zip code, two cases for 88231 or the Eunice zip code, one case for the 88267 or Tatum zip code and four case for the 88252 or Jal zip code. Four cases have not been assigned a location in Lea County, as of this posting.
No correctional facility or long-term care facility in Lea County has had any positive tests for COVID-19, per the state health department and there have been no deaths due to COVID-19 in Lea County.
In nearby Eddy County now has 102 cases. To the north of Lea County, Roosevelt County has 70 cases and Curry has 190. Northwest of Lea County, Chaves County now has 112 cases.
As of Saturday in New mexico, there are 5,845 COVID-19 cases designated as having recovered by the New Mexico Department of Health.
The state has 13,063 positive tests out of 372,288 tests administered. There are current 122 patients hospitalized.
New Mexico state health officials on Saturday announced 291 additional COVID-19 cases. Per the state Department of Health, the most recent cases are:
- 79 new cases in Bernalillo County
- 8 new cases in Chaves County
- 10 new cases in Cibola County
- 4 new cases in Curry County
- 56 new cases in Doña Ana County
- 10 new cases in Eddy County
- 1 new case in Grant County

- 7 new cases in Otero County

The Department of Health on Saturday reported two additional deaths in New Mexico related to COVID-19. Those cases are:
- A female in her 50s from McKinley County. The individual was hospitalized and had underlying conditions.
- A female in her 60s from McKinley County. The individual was hospitalized and had underlying conditions.
The number of deaths of New Mexico residents related to COVID-19 is now 513.
Previously reported numbers included two cases that have been identified as duplicates (one in Doña Ana County, one in McKinley County); one case in Chaves County that was not lab confirmed; and one case in Rio Arriba County that has been identified as an out-of-state resident – these have now been corrected. Including the above newly reported cases, New Mexico has now had a total of 13,063 COVID-19 cases:
