Never underestimate the power of a praying mom

Author Elizabeth Stone once said, “Making the decision to have a child – it is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.”

For a mother, this has never been a more accurate statement.

When it comes to their kids, they have their mother’s heart. No matter what that child does, they will forever have the love of their mom. A mother’s love is unconditional, always forgiving, and never-ending.

I believe that a mom’s love is unique because they consider their children as gifts from God. They may not always act like it, but that does not matter to their mother. Moms can look past our faults and see our true potential in life. A child can be a terror to most people around them, but to their mom, they are angels. Because they believe in the gift they have been given, moms will cherish, love and keep that gift forever in their heart.

This ability to see the best in their children, even in the face of adversity, is a testament to their strength and resilience.
One of the most significant examples in scripture is the story of Hannah. Hannah’s husband loved her very much, but the Bible tells us that she was not able to have children. Her husband’s other wife had many kids, but Hannah was barren. She couldn’t sleep. She didn’t eat. Hannah desperately wanted a child. So, with a heavy heart, Hannah took her petition to the Lord.

When Eli, the priest, saw Hannah praying, he noticed that she was weeping and was bitter in her soul.

Then he heard her pray, “O Lord of hosts, if You will indeed look on the affliction of Your maidservant and remember me, and not forget Your maidservant, but will give Your maidservant a male child, then I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life, and not razor shall come upon his head.”

Hannah understands that the Lord is her source and supplier. If she were going to have a child, it would have to be through the power of the Lord.

We must understand that every blessing we receive in this world comes from the Father. God is the one who gives, and

He is the one we must find in our times of need. When you are going through the struggles of life, the first thing you must do is take it to the Lord.

Then Eli told Hannah that the Lord had heard her and that she should go peacefully. Hannah believed in the word of the Lord that she received from Eli. Hannah got up, worshipped the Lord, and was no longer sad. Even though she didn’t have a bump in her womb, she believed in the promise of the Lord. Hannah allowed herself to walk in joy even though she had not seen the promise come to pass yet.

She stood on the promise of God and not what she could see from her current situation.
We may not see change in our lives right away, but when we stand on the promises of God, we can walk in hope and joy in the present. We don’t have to wait for the future to be happy. We can know in our hearts that we are blessed.

Hannah knew that she would be a mom. God had promised, and she believed in God’s word more than her eyes could see. God has blessings waiting for you. Believe in them. Stand on them. Allow them to bring joy to your heart.
Eventually, Hannah bears a son. She called him Samuel, which means “God has heard.”

When the time came for Samuel to be of age, she gave him back to the Lord as a servant to Eli. Samuel eventually became one of the greatest prophets in Israel. Samuel did great things for the Lord and I am sure that every step of the way there was a proud momma cheering for him.

God did more than honor His promise.

He used Hannah’s prayer and heart for a son to impact a nation and even us today. This story of Hannah’s faith and the power of her prayers is a testament to the hope and inspiration that a mother’s faith can bring.
So, this Mother’s Day, do not underestimate the power of a praying mom.

We must be thankful for the gift God gave to us. You have greatness in you, and your mom probably had a lot to do with it. As this Mother’s Day comes, take time to thank all of the incredible ladies who have done so much for us.

After all, without your mom, you would not be here today, literally.
