The New Mexico Office of the Medical Investigator released its findings in the Feb. 5 deaths of Hobbs couple John McGraw, Sr., and Amanda McGraw.

On the evening of Feb. 5, Hobbs police responded to the 300 block of West Coal where Amanda McGraw, 48, was found deceased. The department stated it was “apparent the death was not natural.” Her husband, John McGraw, Sr., 54, was found deceased hours later near his vehicle in a field off State Highway 18 near Eunice. Their bodies were sent to the OMI in Albuquerque for autopsies.

Last Friday, Chief Deputy Tony Budrow, of the Lea County Sheriff’s Office, stated OMI reports indicated John McGraw’s manner of death was ruled a suicide. His cause of death was gunshot wound. On Monday, Hobbs police announced Amanda McGraw’s death was ruled a homicide with cause of death as strangulation.
