Nor-Lea Hospital District voters approve mill levy tax

After the polls closed Tuesday at Nor-Lea Hospital District, more than 180 voters approved the continuance of the $1.5 million mill levy.

The total votes for the mill levy were 181 for and 43 against, totaling in 224 votes.

The mill levy funds projects that benefit the hospital and the hospital district community, including the Lovington Wellness Center currently being built.

Voters also voted for the re-election of District 3 Trustee Rita Staton. The total votes were 37 for re-electing Staton who will serve for another five-year term on Nor-Lea Hospital’s Board of Trustees.

Voting for the Nor-Lea Hospital’s mill levy was held from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. at the the hospital’s conference room. Voters included residents from then Nor-Lea Hospital District, which is compromises Lovington and Tatum’s school districts.
